When you purchase HandMap maps you are purchasing a license to use the maps on your PDA. This license does not expire - you may continue to use the maps for as long as you like. Each purchase represents a single license to use the maps on one PDA. You can transfer the license to another PDA but only one PDA at a time may have the maps installed. For example if you upgrade your PDA you may uninstall the maps from your old PDA and install them on your new PDA.
Our map collections are sold as subscriptions. At the time of purchase you are give a member id and access code that give you access to the member area of our web site. In the member area is a list of all maps available in that collection. This list may be expanded over time. Your license gives gives you continued access to the member area for as long as you need it. You should download the maps you require as you need them. There is no need to download all maps when you first login. If you have a limited subscription (instead of a full subscription) then you are advised to only use your map credits as you need so you will have free credit if you suddenly have a need in the future for a particular map.
To date, all map data updates have been free. It is our intention to continue to make all future map updates free to existing owners of the maps. Simply download the latest version of the map from our member area web site and install it over the top of the previous version.
Your maps license is non-transferrable to other people. You cannot sell it or give it to another person. You can purchase the maps for another person as a gift but you must notify us of this by email at the time of purchase. If you sell your PDA you must remove the maps before handing it over. The license cannot be transferred with the PDA to another person.
We are happy for you to upgrade or crossgrade your PDA. It doesn’t matter if you purchased the maps for a Palm or PocketPC. You can change from, or to, either type of PDA in the future. Just download the maps and install them. If the Owner Name/User Name is the same on each PDA type then the map owner will also be valid.
If you purchase maps and they do not meet the expectation you had prior to purchase you may delete the maps and request a refund. If you cannot get the maps to function correctly or are not satisfied then please request a refund within 2 weeks of the purchase date.
Please note that our software and maps are sold separately. You must buy both the software and the maps. The only exception is the US County maps product - this does not require you to purchase the software, it will work without HandMap being registered. There are also a few free maps, called overview maps, that you do not need to purchase - they come for free when you purchase the software.
